Job Title: Outside Sales Representative
SUMMARY:
This position is primarily responsible for achieving maximum sales profitability, growth and account penetration within an assigned geographic area either over the phone and/or in person by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Establishes, develops and maintains business relationships with current customers and prospective customers in the assigned territory/market segment to generate new business for company’s product line/services.
Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, or talks with customers by phone.
Makes outbound lead follow-up calls to potential and existing customers by telephone and e-mail to qualify leads and sell products and services.
Handles inbound sales lead calls to convert calls into sales.
Coordinates sales effort with marketing, sales management, accounting, and logistics.
Keeps abreast of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and consulting with marketing and technical service areas.
Displays or demonstrates products, using samples or catalogs, and emphasizes salable features.
Analyzes the territory/market’s potential and determines a clear and concise plan for maximizing territory/market penetration.
Researches sources for developing prospective customers and for information to determine their potential.
Develops clear and effective written proposals/quotes for current and prospective customers.
Overcomes technical and business objections of prospective customers.
Assists customers in selecting the best suited products for their needs.
Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
Coordinates customer training.
Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into ACT database.
Participates in trade shows and conventions.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from four-year college; or four years or more of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
